5 Effective Tips To Take Care Of Your Feet During Monsoon

Health, list Oct 10, 2020

Monsoon season arrives giving relief from painful heats and sunburns. But there are high chances of getting infected due to bad weather and other circumstances. In monsoon, humidity increases the chances of foot-related problems like foot fungus and bacterial infections, which is why one needs to take extra care of them. The damp weather and unhygienic conditions are not good for our feet. A regular Feet care regimen is essential to keep feet clean and smooth in monsoon.

Here are some tips for Monsoon to take care of your feet without any difficulties:

Examine your feet daily:

The most important step is to analyze your feet carefully every day to quickly detect any problems, lesions, or changes in appearance. Wash your foot every time you come from outside with a liquid wash. Ensure you dry your feet completely before wearing new footwear or socks.

Wash feet with warm water:

Wash your feet at the end of each day with warm water. Keep your feet dry and then wash your feet with soap properly. Always use an antiseptic soap to clean the feet properly. Soak your feet for five to eight minutes only. Soaking for too long in water may result in waterlogged sores, which take a lot of time to heal. Use a soft towel to dry your feet properly and remember to wipe between the toes.

Avoid wearing closed shoes:

By wearing closed shoes, you increase the amount of moisture your feet are exposed to. This makes you prone to pesky fungal infections. Wear open-toed shoes to keep your feet dry. Also, never wear wet shoes. Don’t wear damp socks for too long that often leads to smelly feet and also it leads to health issues like cold, fever, infections, etc.

Toenail care:

Toenails are a big part of the overall look of your feet. Trim your nails regularly, but don’t cut them too short to prevent ingrown toenails. So that less dirt accumulates underneath the nails and cleaning feet becomes easier.  It will prevent the dust and dirt from getting collected under your nails which may further lead to fungal infections. Make sure you use anti-fungal creams and powders at least once a day.

Moisturize Your Feet:

Don’t leave your feet dry in the monsoon moisturize your feet before you sleep. Use a foot scrubber and then apply a good moisturizer that works effectively on hard skin and helps keep the heels soft and smooth. Apply moisturizer on your feet daily even if they are not cracked or dry.  You can also massage your feet with sweet almond oil or olive oil at night for those soft and supple feet.
